IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) |
What is IBS?
IBS is a very common intestinal disorder. As many as 20 percent of the adult population, or one in five Americans have symptoms of IBS.
IBS is considered a functional bowel disorder that is characterized by abdominal cramps, bloating, gas and constipation or diarrhea or both.
The gut is often called the second brain because it contains many nerve cells within it. Researchers have yet to discover any specific cause for IBS. But the most common factor associated with the symptoms of IBS is the interactions between the brain and the gut.
How prebiotic works for IBS
The large intestine, or colon, is home to many beneficial bacteria. A healthy colon and well-balanced bacteria have many beneficial effects on health.
The colon contains over 1,000 different types of bacteria and the balance between the good and bad bacteria is key to maintaining good digestive health. IBS patients have a significantly different colon bacterial make-up, however, a number of recent studies have shown that certain prebiotic formula can change the bacterial makeup and reduce the symptoms of IBS.
preB, the exclusive prebiotic
When we eat a meal, fibers and digested food goes through the intestine. Soluble fiber is fermented by beneficial bacteria that inhabit the large intestine and colon and is used as food source by these bacteria. “preB” is composed of over 50 organic fruits, vegetables and whole grains. The vital nutrients of over 50 whole food ingredients are preserved by preB's natural fermentation process. preB fermented food product feed up the 'good' bacteria in the digestive tract and stimulate the 'good' bacteria.
